Luis Brasdefer is a Finance and Corporate Lawyer with a Master in Business Administration, both from ITAM Institute in Mexico. He also holds Diplomas and Specialization Courses on diverse subjects including International Trade. Luis has over 30 years of professional experience in diverse fields including Entrepreneurism, Consultancy, Private Sector and Government, where his duties have included: General Legal Director for the National Commission for the Protection of Users of Financial Services, Deputy General Director for Development Banking at the Ministry of Finance, General Legal Director at “Banrural” Federal Government Bank, and General Legal Director at the Federal Treasury of Mexico. In the private sector Mr. Brasdefer has been Head of Legal Areas in financial institutions such as Valmex, Bancomer (BBVA), Serfin (Santander) and Ixe. In Canada Mr. Brasdefer founded “Mexico Consulting”, a Firm for international business between Canada and Mexico. Appointed as Trade and Investment Commissioner for Western Canada in March 2013, his jurisdiction includes the British Columbia and Alberta Provinces as well as the Yukon and Northwest Territories.
