We are a non-profit,  independently-run organization of professionals with a mandate of strengthening the links of Mexico and British Columbia on four strategic areas: innovation & technology, education, entrepreneurship and culture.

We are part of Red Global MX, a diaspora program by the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs that seeks to foster collaboration bridges between professional Mexicans living abroad, their host country and Mexico.

Canada and Mexico share common challenges and opportunities because:

1. There are a large number of Mexicans living in Canada, as well as Canadians in Mexico. An estimated 50,000 Canadians reside in Mexico, either permanently or seasonally, while more than 100,000 Mexicans are estimated to live in Canada.

2. They are each other’s main trading partners, standing out as NAFTA partners and currently participating in the Trans-Pacific Association Agreement (TPP).

3. Both nations have maintained a diplomatic relationship since 1944, celebrating this year (2014) 70 years of a relationship based on cooperation, bonds of friendship and exchanges in the academic and cultural area.

The Global Network of Mexicans Abroad in BC will seek to contribute to the strengthening of the bond between both nations for the benefit of both parties. Further recognizing that British Columbia and in Mexico the opportunities to generate projects of high value in strategic sectors can be of mutual benefit. Thus, taking advantage of the participation and knowledge of a large number of Mexicans within institutions of the province to link projects is a great asset that we must promote. There are publications that indicate that there are more than 22,000 Mexicans in BC. Thus, considering as one of the greatest strengths to conform this chapter the talent, experience and will of the Mexicans is that the network has sustenance and raison d’√™tre to seek to contribute by adding effort and capacity among all.
